The Democratic State Committee lost $5,000 to $6,000 in 2006 from a check fraud scheme, Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan said today.
Attorney General Anne Milgram announced the indictment yesterday of members the Bloods street gang for cashing $341,000 in forged payroll checks between 2005 and 2007. The gang recruited employees of companies and institutions – among them the Democratic State Committee – to turn over copies of actual payroll checks.
Cryan said that checks were copied from payments sent out for the party’s 2006 field operation -- not from a full time employee’s pay check. The committee reported the fraud to Bank of America and wrote it up as a loss in its ELEC report.

Question Menendez
So (if you read between the lines) the Democrats were paying Bloods gang members to go door to door for Bob Menendez and then were shocked when they forged checks? And why is Ann Milgram so quick to indict criminals who fraud the Democratic party, but has done nothing to stop the politicians who fraud the taxpayers? (School Construction Corp., Xanadu, UMDNJ...) Bob Menendez needs to be questioned about who his camp was paying for get out the vote.
It was more efficient that way
hey, by giving the $$ to the Bloods through check fraud, they saved the middleman for their election day voter fraud efforts.
oh please
Do you think BM would jeopardize his seante leadership post to pass a street gang money?
nice
this gives a whole new meaning to "community organizing"....
Cashing forged payroll checks is one of NJ's largest industries, so I am guessing this was part of an ACORN job training program and is all a big misunderstanding. The Bloods involved will probably get civil service protection and a promotion.
